Hook information
The grass hooks are lightweight
tools designed to cut grass and annuals. The Cranked
Grass Hook has a handle that raises the user's
hand above ground. The Little Giant Grass Hook
has a disposable blade so requires no sharpening.
However it is more fragile than the grass hooks.
The Scythette is a very useful but fragile tool
for cutting grass, nettles etc. The long handle
means the user need not stoop.
Grass Hooks were used to trim
grass from places near the house and fence. People
used these before lawnmowers and weed-eaters were
used. they are still available for those who prefer
to work by hand or for difficult and awkward areas.
