The 50th annual Spalding flower show 2009 will take place during May 2009. The Spalding flower show 2009 parade will be on the Saturday in the first week of May 2009. The theme will be “Thanks for the memories” This spectacular parade of floats decorated with spring flowers, will be accompanied by marching bands and dancers.

The Spalding flower show 2009 parade on the Saturday weekend, starts and finishes at the festival site at Springfields Gardens. Starting normally at 2.00pm it travels a 4.5 mile route around Spalding, arriving back at Springfields at appriximately 5.00pm.

Introduced in 1959 by local growers, the Spalding flower show 2009 parade has developed into one of the UK’s most colourful events with around 15-20 floats, marching bands, vintage bicycles and many colourful characters.

The floats are all decorated with flowers taken from the tulips grown for bulb production, and are on display at the Festival Site within Springfields Gardens on the morning of the parade, before leaving in the early afternoon for the four-and-a-half-mile parade route.

The Spalding flower show 2009 is likely once again to attract around 250,000 visitors every year, with a parade made up of over a dozen flower floats each covered in 100,000 tulip heads, accompanied by marching bands, vintage bicycles and many other colourful characters.

The floral floats for the Spalding flower show 2009 are also on static display at the festival site within the 25-acre landscaped Springfields Gardens from 9am on the Saturday morning of the parade, before leaving for their colourful journey around the town in the afternoon. They then remain at the festival site during the Springfields Country Fair which ends on the evening of the Bank Holiday Monday. Visitors are also invited to witness the floats being carefully adorned with the thousands of blooms on the Friday night.

The Country Fair, running parallel to the flower festival, boasts a varied programme of entertainment, stalls, a craft fair and demonstrations.
